New regulations have been made to provide building product users with a minimum level of easy to understand information about building products

These new regulations were developed to

  • Help designers, builders and consumers choose the right products for their needs ,install them correctly and make informed decisions about using alternative products if required
  • Enable more efficient consenting by providing building consent authorities with the right information, so it is readily available to check that plans will meet the building code
  •  Reduced the chance of building defects, less building rework, more efficient consenting, and safer more durable buildings

These BPIR relate to our Underbench Unit Tapware Range including:

in all incarnations/colourways. This BPIR is only required for the tapware, not the respective underbench appliance
 

This Tapware is designed for use with the applicable underbench appliance for filtered, tempered drinking water

These products are batch produced to a general specification, and are Class 1 Building Products as defined in the regulations

RELEVANT BUILDING CODE CLAUSES

CONTRIBUTION TO COMPLIANCE

G12.1B The objective of this position is to safeguard people from injury caused by hot water system explosion, or from contact with excessively hot water

Safety – Water Supply system has a double lock system before dispensing hot water

G12.3.3 A non-potable water supply system used for personal hygiene must be installed in a manner that avoids the likelihood of illness or injury being caused by the system

G12.3.6 If hot water is provided to sanitary fixtures and sanitary appliances used for personal hygiene, it must bedelivered at a temperature that avoids the likelihood of scalding

G12.3.7 (b) Water supply systems must be installed in a manner that avoids the likelihood of leakage

(c) Allows reasonable access to components likely to need maintenance

(d) Allows the system and any backflow prevention devices to be isolated for testing and maintenance

Significant Leak (Internal Leak) – Product has a leak detection system integrated to prevent against this and turn off water supply to tap

Installation guide states unit not be installed permanently or sealed away to allow access for service and maintenance

Unit has isolation valve fitted

G12.3.8  Vessels used for producing or storing hot water must be provided with safety features

(a) Relieve excess pressure during both normal and abnormal conditions

(b) Limit temperatures to avoid the likelihood of flash steam production in the event of rupture

Unit has an open vented system to avoid pressure on the boiler unit (Underbench Unit)

G12.3.9 A Hot water system must be capable of being controlled to to prevent the growth of Legionella Bacteria

Boiler unit is at a controlled temperature to prevent the growth of Legionella bacteria (Underbench Unit)

Limitations, design, installation and maintenance requirements are outlined in the instruction manual and product data sheet of the product. This is included in the package and via the product page

These building products are not subject to warning or ban under section 26 of the Building Act 2004
